Alternatives...

I love alternative medicine. Recently, I discovered acupuncture and I love it! Jonah even gets in on the acupuncture action with Shoni-shin treatments (acupuncture without piercing the skin). Here are some pictures of him getting his treatment tonight. Jonah and Brittany, our acupuncturist:

I should also mention that Jonah DOES see a traditional pediatrician as well. :) He gets well baby visits AND immunizations.

Hair today, gone tomorrow

So here's my new haircut. I'm thinking maybe a couple highlights for the summer.

Update: I have not decided if its life changing yet, I've been to busy to fully evaluate it's effectiveness. Also when I do my hair its a bit more messy, I don't take the time to flat iron it... too lazy!

My Favorite Baby Catalog...

One Step Ahead. I have no idea how in the world I got on the mailing list, but I am SO happy I did. There is nothing more important than keeping my child safe. Don't let your child be a victim of your negligence. Here is a sampling of the MUST HAVES for your child.

When their darn shirt just won't stay tucked, what do you need?! Why, the"Sta-Tuct, of course! It comes in pink and blue.Just in case you think your child is a vampire and might burst into flame when the sun is out, One Step Ahead offers "wearable sunblock" with a matching flap hat, of course. Is your child scared of the dark? Then buy him a "Tyke Light". Never again be without a toilet for your little one with the "On the Go Potty"! Liners include an absorbent pad!

For the "Sleep Jumper" in your family:

Take the guess work out of figuring out if something is a choking hazard with the Choke Tube Tester! If it fits in the tube, its a hazard!
I saved the best for last. This item is a must have for the "Accident Prone" child? Do YOU know someone who is expecting a child or has a small one learning to crawl or walk? Then they need the BUMPER BONNET. Protect your childs head from bumps and bruises. Your child is SPECIAL and deserves to stay that way.
Save a Cranium, Buy the Bumper Bonnet TODAY!

Read actual reviews from REAL parents here. There's even pictures of actual babies! One parent even goes on to say its NOT SAFE ENOUGH! It needs more padding under the chin strap! Fly Helicopter Parents, Fly on!

I ate too much...

Bi Bim Bap, but it tasted SO good and its never the same as a leftover. If you have not tried this delish Korean staple then you are missing out. Here's a sample courtesy of google images:

Also of note, Thursday I am getting a hair cut. A life altering hair cut that will give me the inspiration to shed the winter insulation, spruce up my wardrobe, get on the elliptical, and finish organizing the basement. Yes, GREAT things are expected to happen after this haircut. I sure hope its a good one. Change is in the air and it's a bringin' good things!

Shower baby to sleep?!

Jonah fell asleep with me in the shower. Seriously, it was the sweetest thing ever. I so wish Nathan would have been home to get a picture!

I took a shower with Jonah tonight with those shower soothers because he's been so congested and it soothed him right to sleep! His skin was all rosy from the hot water and he just fell asleep. I think its my favorite way to put him to sleep now! Although not the most practical. He woke up when we got out of the shower and had to dry off and put on a diaper. He went right to sleep after, such a sweet baby.

Here's some Jonah B from the yesterday and today:

Oscars...Did you watch? What did you think?

Nowadays I only watch for the dresses, hair, and who they bring.

Best Overall Looks:
Jennifer Garner
Katherine Heigl
Heidi Klum
Penelope Cruz

Not so hot looks:
Jennier Hudson (sadly she did not learn from last year)
Jessica Alba (bad pregnancy dress, icksnay on the feathers, she could have done better)
Cate Blanchett (surprise as usually she is a fave)
Nicole Kidman (weird monstrosity of bling ruined what was otherwise a fine dress)

OK and is it just me or did you also get deja vu when you saw Cameron Diaz in her dress? Jon Stewart's Monologue was just OK. I think Billy Crystal should do the opening with a song and dance EVERY Oscar.

Oh and Angelina and Brad... Pregnant again! I wonder if she would give me a grant to adopt a child from a foreign 3rd world country...

Jonah wanted to blog...

, b fhmxbghldefgvfbbnhg t

I'm not sure what he typed but I am SURE it was deeply profound.

He stands alone and walks
while holding onto things.
I believe the experts
call that "cruising".

Yes, my boy cruises.

Someone once commented that Jonah is always so happy...not so my friend, not so.

Poor Mr. JB is sick.

Please pray for him tonight.

He is all congesty.

TGIF!

No more Ennui - Just Love for my Jonah B!

So thankful its FRIDAY!!!
This week has seemed
Really LONG.

So Josh is spending
the night tonight,
here's the only evidence
of the fun I could get!

He is not surprisingly camera shy!

When he was small he drank lots of "cocoa milk".

Now that he is older he has moved onto more "healthy" drinks.

This last one was too funny so I had to add it!

Here's some "Just Jonah" yumminess from tonight:

Name change...

I wasn't feeling inspired by my previous title "Life Changes - I stay the same". I think the new title says it all, thus the very necessary change to:

Finding Inspiration in the Everyday

Do you hear what I hear?

Ennui

Ok so I thought this year I wasn't going to get the winter blues. Turns out they were just running a bit late. I have "ennui".

I love the word "ennui": the spelling, the sound, the fact that it's french. I feel like I should put on a beret when I say it.

Oh, I was digressing, back to being depressed about winter and the lack of sunshine. I need some inspiration, some change, some sort of push to become productive, something different. I feel like I'm drifting into nothing. Ok so not THAT depressed but it sounded more artistically tortured to tack that on.

I miss my baby boy. He always puts a smile on my face.

So full of wonder,
Your contagious smile,
As I watch you start to grow up.

Rains will pour down,

Waves will crash around
But you will be safe in my arms.

My heart is torn just in knowing
You'll someday see the truth from lies
But you will be safe in my arms.

Castles they might crumble
Dreams may not come true
You are never all alone
I will always love you.

Dear Readers...

As I write tonight I imagine that my words will resonate within you soul, somehow inspire you to greater creativity, and take you to thrilling heights of scholastic achievement.

Oh wait, hold that thought...I'll be right back... the lunar eclipse is happening and I need to put pants on and go out to the backyard.

OK, back to being profound. So where was I? Ah yes, Profound thoughts, think of ... Existentialism, Pickwick Papers, Physicality, Immorality, and I think you've finally dosed off...

Oh well, the "profound moment" has been broken. Welcome to Tisha's Torrent of Searing Mind Connections. The boy is at Gramma's for the night as he is every wednesday and I am bored.

I leave you with these...

The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees,
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
The road was a ribbon of moonlight, over the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding, riding, riding,
The highwayman came riding up to the old inn door.

There she weaves by night and day
A magic web with colors gay.
She has heard a whisper say,
A curse is on her if she stay
To look down on Camelot

The good parts of my day...

So today I was a stay at home mommy again when Jonah was kicked out of daycare because of a rash. Turns out its just a little excema and heat rash. Here are some pics of the happy boy from today (before the bad 35 minutes).

Tonight I went to a Detroit Pistons Game! Let's Go Pistons!
They lost, but Bon Jovi was there watching the game! They are performing tomorrow night at the Palace. In the 2nd picture I circled the head of Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, and the Drummer. Enlarge the picture and follow the red arrow.

I was a bad mommy today...

At the insistance of others (who will remain nameless) I let Jonah "cry it out" to go down for a nap. We were not at home and he was very tired. I almost buckled after 10 minutes but they made me leave the house promising that he'd be asleep when I got back...he wasnt. I should also mention that this was the awful ugly crying, the kind that causes chest heaves and makes me think someone is performing a exorcism on him in his room. After 35 of the most horrible minutes of both of our lives I could stand it no longer. I apologized to my boy several times and walked him till we calmed down. Please rest assured that Jonah B is safely in the arms of Gramma (Di) today, mommy is in time out.

I know we all have different parenting strategies and I found today that "crying it out" is definitely not mine for Jonah. I'm not upset at the ones who encoraged me to try a different method. It was ultimately my choice and I should have listened to my mommy instinct. He goes sleep very easily and usually without tears at home and at Gramma's. Yesterday he just happened to be over tired in unsure surroundings and I should have been more sensitive to that.

I don't mind if some think my baby will be a brat, I'm OK with that. Thank you for listening.

Happy Presidents Day

So, how was my presidents day you ask? Why, it was lovely thank you for inquiring. My job was kind enough to consider today a holiday so I was able to spend it at home with my boy.

He ate pancakes for breakfast.

He enjoyed crawling under the table, playing his keyboard, and getting stuck.

Later that evening Tasha and I went out for dinner with Autumn and Tiffany. We ate at Applebees and had fun catching up. We plan to do it again soon. I will however, NOT be bringing Jonah again. He did not show his good side tonight...

After dinner the Stuve family (Tasha, Chris, Cole, Mason) spent the rest of the evening at our house. We played air hockey in the basement while the guys updated Chris's laptop. Please note the color of Tasha's hair.

Accomplishments

5 Lasagnas, 3 Zitis, and 6 Shepherds Pies in the deep freezer. Yesterdays afternoon plan accomplished only 1 day late! Yummy mashed potatoes for the shepherds pies.

I also put the last of Jonah's frozen baby food in Ziploc bags. I don't think I will need to make him anymore baby food. By the time it's gone he'll be done with anything pureed. That kind of makesme sad. It will be one more milestone toward being a toddler for him, but one more step away from being mommy's baby.

And just cuz he's so cute (they are from this afternoon):
