Apples Anyone?

2 weekends ago it was Applefest in Fenton. Jonah rode a pony, ate apple crisp, played his favorite carnival game, and rode his first carnival rides all by himself. He's so brave and adventurous.

He waited in line...

His first real ride all by himself on the Convoy Race. He loved it!

Then more rides followed!

In my haste to post this originally, I left out some special guest stars that helped make our weekend so much fun! Our friends Hillary and George came up from Ann Arbor to help us enjoy the day. We went to dinner at the French Laundry and had a marvelous time!

Giddy up!

Jonah loves to ride his horsey. He's now big enough to get on and off by himself.

Bonus - Jonah loves shoes, especially mommy and daddy's shoes.

I love babies in jammies!

Yes, you heard correctly. First Sentence. I love you is a sentence.

It's a GREAT mommy day. Sweetest thing ever, Jonah called me today at work. I said Hello. I hear Jonah - "Hello". I say I love you. Jonah says, " I LOVE YOU!". OK so it sounded more like I-yu-you, but that still counts! He's been so close to saying I love you but this time it sounded so full of intent and meaning. He was really telling me he loved me. Being this sweet boys mommy is the BEST EVER!!!

They see me rollin'...

So Jonah B is attracting attention from the ladies! Yes, here he is with an "older woman", riding off into the sunset!
Is she putting the moves on him? My boy's got game!

Ravioli and Chicken - no other words are needed.

This boy eats...

Usually on saturday mornings we go out for breakfast. Jonah LOVES breakfast. I love watching his slightly uncoordinated hands try to use the fork. I love that he get so excited about his food that he abandons his fork and starts shoving it in his mouth and in his hair. Although that was the first time he actually lifted the bowl to his face - hilarious.

Breakfast Appetizer: Pumpkin Bread - Oh so yummy!
I must shove it ALL in my mouth...
It's good to the Last crumb!

Now for my main course - dig in!

I can't believe I ate it all!

My J loves food. I don't know where he gets that from...

Jonah's cognitive update

I love watching his learning progress. Everyday he does something new. Please pardon me while I have a "wow, my child is magnificent moment".

Wednesday he showed off his counting skills. I said the usual One, then he answered Two! It was not just a one time thing either, I keep saying one, he keeps saying two! Brilliant!

We have been working on colors for the past few days as well. Just this afternoon I discovered he now knows the difference between blue and yellow. I ask what color something blue is - he says blue. I ask what color something yellow is - he says yellow. Genius!

Jonah can make the sounds for:
Cow, Pig, Sheep, Horse, Cat, Dog, Bear, Lion, Tiger, Frog, Coyote, Duck, Train, Car. Animal Noise Making Prodigy!

He says:
Momma, Dada, Papa, Oscar (his friend at school, sounds more like Ahh'-Ka), School, Bye-bye, Cookie, Cracker, night-night, go, all done, no-no, baba, all gone, down, amen, bible, Whoa!, car, poo-poo, baby, turtle, blue, yellow, hi, hello, two (after i say one). Future Linguist!

Just a couple funny anecdotes to add:
He fold his hands to pray, but if you pray too long he says amen when he thinks you should be finished. We ask, Jonah what do you do in your diaper? His reply: Poo-Poo. Hilarious.

Why might Jonah be so smart?
He has clear nerve connections through out his body. Right after we left the hospital we went to see our chiropractor, Dr. Erica Peabody, for Jonah's first adjustment. He has had regular adjustments ever since. I like to think that part of why he's SO smart is because his neurological system is so well adjusted. I just found my chripractor's blog and Jonah and I are pictured on it at Jonah's FIRST adjustment. Please disregard me in the pic as I was 5 days post c-section and, well, didn't look so hot.

Good old fashioned fun

More from labor day weekend. OK so I'm a little behind...

Who needs a pool when you can have a bucket of water and a hose? Jonah played for about an hour outside in the bucket of water.

He watered the plants.

And then he didnt want any more pictures taken.

Auburn, Cord, Dusenberg...

We spent Labor day weekend with Grandpa Jim and Grandma Terri in Auburn, IN for the Auburn, Cord, Dusenberg Festival. Auburns, Cords, and Dusenbergs are old classic car manufacturers. When I think of Dusenberg I always think of the movie Annie when Daddy Warbucks (i think) instructs them to "Bring around the Dusenberg". Anyway here is some of our fun.

He wasn't sure about the frog...

I'm always on the lookout for good walls to take pictures on. Found one!

Hey Jonah! Where ya goin'?

Oh, over to point to the Cougar!

Just a fun colored car-

Hey look, a cat tail stuck in a truck.

I - can't - get - it - out!
